Commission an original watercolor painting for yourself or a loved one.
Whether you are looking to commemorate a special occasion, or you want a piece that is custom made for your home, commissions are a great way to purchase an original work of art that is perfectly suited to you.
How are payments handled?
Commissioned pieces are charged at a flat rate, and payment is typically handled with a non-refundable deposit of 50% up front, and 50% upon completion. The piece will be delivered after the final payment is received.
Do I need to provide photographic reference?
This depends on what you want. If you want a painting that is similar to Jeffrey's existing work, but you don't feel attached to the specifics, you may not need to provide references.
If you commission a portrait, or a painting of a specific place, you will be responsible for providing photographic references. Unless you know exactly what you want, it often helps to provide multiple photos so that Jeffrey can help you to select the best reference material.
How long will it take?
Commissions usually have about a one month turnaround. If you need your commissioned piece delivered within 5 to 7 business days, rush orders are available for an additional fee of $100. Rush orders can only be guaranteed if all payments are made in a timely fashion.
Will prints be made of my commissioned piece?
If the content of the piece is personal (e.g. portraits of family members), Jeffrey will not create reproductions of your commissioned painting. However, if the content of your work is not personal and fits in with her larger body of work, Jeffrey reserves the right to create and sell reproductions of the work.
Can I create prints of my commissioned piece?
Unless otherwise negotiated, you do not have the rights to reproduce your commissioned piece for profit or commercial use. If you would like to create prints for noncommercial use, that can be arranged directly with Jeffrey or with Jeffrey’s approval.
